AIRail combines train and flight: We take you from Linz in 1 hour 40 minutes, from Salzburg in 2 hours 50 minutes, from Innsbruck in 4 hours 41 minutes, from Graz in 2 hours 57 minutes and new from 14 December 2025, from Klagenfurt in 3 hours 55 minutes to Vienna Airport and from there to destinations all over the world.
The offer is being gradually expanded and expanded: From Linz and Salzburg, all ÖBB railjet and Intercity trains travelling directly to/from Vienna Airport are also offered as AIRail connections to Vienna Airport, the first connection from Linz already reaches Vienna Airport at 5:57 a.m., the last connection to Linz departs from Vienna Airport at 00:02 a.m.
New from 14. December 2025: With the Koralm railway line, the AIRail service on the southern route will also be significantly increased and expanded: Seven connections will be offered on the Klagenfurt - Graz - Vienna Airport route to supplement Austrian Airlines' flight service. There will also be seven daily connections back to Klagenfurt and a late connection to Graz from Vienna Airport at 11:02 p.m.
You can book your AIRail connections, including connecting flights, at austrian.com, via the booking portals of the participating Star Alliance airlines or directly through your travel agency.
AIRail offers you not only the advantage of easy booking: With AIRail, you can reach all destinations of Austrian or the participating Star Alliance airlines with just one ticket for the train and the flight. The boarding pass is valid as a ticket and seat reservation on the train for the booked rail-flight connection. Please note that it is bound to a specific train. The luggage you bring with you stays with you until Vienna Airport.
The intermodal partnership between ÖBB and Star Alliance makes it possible: customers can collect points or miles for their AIRail train journeys in the frequent flyer programme of the respective Star Alliance airline.
AIRail passengers enjoy a range of services:
- As a Miles & More member, you can park more cheaply in the Bahnhof-Wissensturm Linz garage directly at the main train station: insert a parking ticket at the machine, insert a Miles & More card and your parking fee is automatically reduced by 20%; For HON Circle Members, we offer three marked parking spaces in preferred locations.
- An AIRail check-in is available at the ÖBB travel center Linz main station, Salzburg main station, Innsbruck main station, Graz main station and in Klagenfurt main station. For security reasons, luggage can only be checked in at Vienna Airport.
- As an Business Class passenger, HON Circle Member or Senator, you can relax in the ÖBB Lounge at the main train station in Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz and Klagenfurt before your AIRail train departs.
- Free WiFi at Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz and Klagenfurt main stations
- As an AIRail traveller you will find your place in the specially pre-reserved seats on the ÖBB Railjet or Intercity. These are shown on the boarding pass.
- Use the ÖBB on-board portal Railnet to discover important information about your journey, practical services and exciting entertainment content – conveniently and free of charge on your own end device.
- You will receive a snack voucher from your train team; this can be redeemed on board the Railjet or Intercity.
- As an AIRail traveler, you have an extended guarantee. Due to the specified transfer times at VIE, there is a train connection for the booked Austrian AIRail connection.
- When travelling by AIRail, you collect points or miles with Miles & More from Austrian or with the respective frequent flyer programme of the participating Star Alliance airline.
