It is ÖBB's aim to allow all passengers to comfortably travel by rail.

As Austria's largest mobility provider it is ÖBB's aim to allow all passengers to comfortably travel by rail. More than one million people in our country are temporarily or permanently limited in their mobility. This includes disabled people as well as elderly or frail people. In order to offer this customer group suitable travel facilities, ÖBB continuously invests in barrier free access.

Discounts for passengers with disabilities

Low-cost travel with a certificate of disability: With your certificate of disability, you can travel with ÖBB throughout Austria at a discount of 50%. You do not need a discount card, but rather save directly on each and every trip with ÖBB.

  • 50% discount on ÖBB standard single tickets for passengers in Austria (via all sales channels)

In order to make use of this offering, you need an Austrian certificate of disability or a certificate of severe war-related disability with the following information:

  • Specification of a degree of disability of at least 70% or
  • An entry "The holder of this certificate can claim discounts on transport rates in accordance with the Federal Disabilities Act (Bundesbehindertengesetz)"

Accompanying person or assistance dog travel with appropriate note in the handicapped pass free of charge.

Advice for travelers in wheelchairs: Traveling together with the family

If you´re a passenger in a wheelchair and want to travel together with your family or children on our long-distance trains, we ask you to contact our ÖBB customer service on 05 1717 5 to reserve your seat. Our employees will be happy to make these reservations for you.
