Sparschiene Romania

A yearning for Transylvania: medieval cities, mountainous borderlands and mystical castles await you here.

The Carpathian region in western Romania and Transylvania has so much more to offer than just the cult around Count Dracula. This Romanian treasure chest stands out for its vibrant European cultural history, impressive mountain landscapes and vibrant cities. With the direct Eurocity on the route Vienna - Oradea or Baia Mare you can reach the regions in the north-west of Romania comfortably by day train. The journey time from Vienna to Oradea at the foothills of the Western Carpathians and Baia Mare is around 10 hours in each case.

You can also travel overnight on the "Dacia" - one of Europe’s most famous long-distance trains - to other destinations in Romania, for example to Cluj-Napoca, Sighișoara, Brașov and the capital, Bucharest.

Please note that a seat reservation is required for train travel in Romania.
