The ÖBB Vorteilscard makes travelling Austria by train even better: with 50% off ÖBB standard tickets, it pays for itself after just a few trips. Ideal for anyone who wants to travel flexibly by train and save money. The Vorteilscard is available in several variants and can be purchased up to 6 months before the desired start date: in the ÖBB app, in the ÖBB Ticketshop, at  ÖBB ticket counters and from our ÖBB Sales partners.

  • 50% off ÖBB standard tickets 
  • Discounts with private railways: on most Austrian private railways, Vorteilscard holders pay up to 50% less for a ticket The only exception is the Vorteilscard Family, which is only recognised on the following private railways: the Raab-Oedenburg-Ebenfurter railway, the Mariazellerbahn and the Citybahn Waidhofen. 
  • With the Vorteilscard Comfort, you get 50% off national and international seat reservations on daytime services.

Which ÖBB Vorteilscard is right for me

Vorteilscard Classic

The Vorteilscard Classic is the straightforward standard version: There are no requirements and no age limit. For €73 per year, the Vorteilscard Classic offers 50% off all standard tickets. It comes as a plastic card, but can also be stored digitally in your ÖBB account. The card is available in the ÖBB app, in the ÖBB Ticketshop and at all ÖBB ticket counters.

Vorteilscard Comfort

The Vorteilscard Comfort is the right choice for anyone who not only wants to save on travel, but also to secure their favourite seat at a great price. For €89 per year, you get 50% off every standard ticket as well as 50% off seat reservations on national and international long-distance daytime services. The card is digital only. It is stored in your ÖBB account, so you always have it with you on your smartphone. The card is available in the ÖBB app and in the ÖBB Ticketshop.

Tip

If you upgrade to the Vorteilscard Comfort via your ÖBB account whilst your Vorteilscard Classic or Vorteilscard Jugend is still valid, you’ll pay a one-off fee of just €79 instead of €89.

Vorteilscard Jugend

The Vorteilscard Jugend is aimed at people under 26 years of age and, at €21 per year, is an affordable way for young travellers to get started. The card can be purchased up to one day before your 26th birthday and then is valid for 12 months.  

What’s more: Children between 6 and 14 years of age receive 50% off every standard single ticket even without a Vorteilscard.

Vorteilscard Family

The Vorteilscard Family is ideal for anyone who regularly travels with children. For €21 per year, up to four children under 15 travel with you free of charge, whether they are related to you or not. Important: The card is only valid for journeys taken together with children, and all accompanying adults need their own Vorteilscard Family. The accompanying children must be specified when purchasing the ticket

Vorteilscard Senior

The Vorteilscard Senior is available to everyone aged 65 and over and costs €31 per year. Like the Classic version, it offers 50% off every ÖBB standard single ticket.

Note

For journeys within transport networks, the respective network fare applies; the discount may be lower in such cases. Fares can be viewed at any time in the ÖBB Ticketshop.

Vorteilscard Senior Frei

The Vorteilscard Senior Frei is aimed at people aged 65 and over who are entitled to a compensatory allowance or supplementary allowance and is completely free of charge for this group. You can apply for one at an ÖBB ticket counter by presenting the relevant proof. 

At the moment there is an additional bonus: anyone who applies for the card between 15 April 2026 and 15 April 2027 will receive two vouchers for journeys within Austria. To redeem them, at least part of the journey must be made on an ÖBB long-distance train (Railjet, Eurocity, Intercity or Interregio). The vouchers can either be stored in your ÖBB account or redeemed directly at the ticket counter.
