Getting there from Vienna

From Vienna, you can reach the airport easily and comfortably in several ways.

From Vienna, you can reach the airport easily and comfortably in several ways. From the Vienna airport train station, it’s just a short indoor walk to the terminal building. Step-free access is also available.

Check in while still in the city centre and drop off your baggage in the City Air Terminal at Wien Mitte/Landstraße station.

CAT (City Airport Train)

The City Airport Train or CAT rail shuttle takes passengers from the city centre directly to Vienna Airport in just 16 minutes. The trains travel from Wien Mitte-Landstraße Station to the airport and back every half-hour. Passengers won’t even need to wait until they get to the airport to check in for their flight - they will be able to do so at the City Air Terminal itself, using check-in counters and self-service terminals provided at Wien Mitte-Landstraße, 75 minutes or more before their flight departs.

To ensure you reach your flight not just as quickly as possible but also as comfortably, you can drop your luggage off at the City Air Terminal. From there, it is taken directly to the airport and loaded onto your flight. Railjet

The ÖBB railjets take you non-stop from Vienna Main station to Vienna Airport in only 15 minutes. The ÖBB railjet trains leave Vienna Main station from 5:42 until 22:42 every half an hour and Vienna Airport from 6:33 until 23:03 and at 00:02.

The ÖBB railjet trains also stop at Wien Meidling, the shortest journey time to Vienna Airport is 26 minutes. In some cases, it is necessary to change at Vienna Main station.

Vienna Airport Lines

Passengers can also travel from Vienna out to the airport on buses operated by Vienna Airport Lines. Three separate bus connections are located at key points in the centre of the capital:

  • VAL1: Vienna Westbahnhof - Vienna Main Station - Vienna Airport
  • VAL2: Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz - Vienna Airport
  • VAL3: Donauzentrum - Kagraner Brücke - Hotel NH Danube City - Kaisermühlen/VIC (Austria Center) - Krieau (Messe Wien) - Stadion - Donaumarina - Vienna Airport

Suburban train (Schnellbahn)

The S7 suburban train line takes you to the airport at a cheap fare, although with several intermediate stops and a somewhat longer journey time. Trains run every half hour daily from ca. 04:00h until after midnight. At peak travel times, the trains of the REX7 line are also in service on the route.
