MAK - Museum of Applied Arts

From the Viennese Modern to digital Modern

Founded in 1863, the MAK is one of the most magnificent buildings on Vienna's Ringstrasse and, with its collection of precious arts and crafts from five centuries, is one of the most important museums of its kind in the world.

Among the museum highlights is the "Vienna 1900" display collection with masterpieces of the Wiener Werkstätte by Gustav Klimt, Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser as well as design icons by Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos.

In the MAK DESIGN LAB, contemporary projects by designers, artists, architects, programmers, activists and idealists who respond to the challenges of the 21st century are put into context with historical positions from the MAK collection.

In addition, the MAK presents top-class special exhibitions in the fields of art, design and architecture, with which it has established itself as one of the most innovative cultural institutions.
