Linz Card

Experience the Future in Linz on the Danube.

At first glance, a former industrial city, at second glance, an exciting metropolis of culture; curiosity and anticipation before your visit, and a surprising passion for the city after your trip: all of this, and more, awaits you in Linz on the Danube.

If it is your first time in the city, let yourself be carried away by the open atmosphere of the city centre, by the buildings from a huge variety of eras, by the diverse cultural offerings and by the Danube, which is a part of Linz now more than ever. What sets this city apart from others is its character and its constant evolution. A particular turning point was the year 2009, when Linz became the European Capital of Culture. The list of new openings around that time is impressive: the south wing of the Schlossmuseum, voestalpine Stahlwelt, the Ars Electronica Center, the renovated Pöstlingbergbahn line, and also the Höhenrausch, which took place for the last time in 2021. Another legacy of Linz09 is the Musiktheater, which was opened in 2013 and is one of the most modern opera houses in Europe. The ideas, projects and initiatives from the Capital of Culture year still excite visitors and residents alike.

Please note the opening hours of the individual partner businesses. The museums are closed on Mondays, with a few exceptions. All details about the Linz Card can be found at www.linztourismus.at/linzcard

Programme diversity in Linz's Museums

Ars Electronica Center

Try things out, join in and think: that is the motto of the Ars Electronica Centre! In Spring 2019, the Ars Electronic Centre underwent a major thematic redesign. Under the motto “Compass – Navigating the Future”, the Ars Electronica Centre is now a compass and guide through the man-made systems of the 21st century. The themes of the newly designed exhibitions range from artificial intelligence and neurobionics, autonomous systems and robotics, genetic and biotechnology, to the far-reaching global changes of our time.

Francisco Carolinum Linz

The Francisco Carolinum is the museum for the modern and contemporary art of Upper Austria. It provides information on the latest artistic trends and integrates them into 20th century art history. The programme of the Francisco Carolinum is defined by the interrelationships between regional, national and international art production.

LENTOS is one of the most important museums of modern and contemporary art in Austria. Its collections give insights into the history of art since the late 19th century and exhibit important paintings by Klimt, Schiele and Kokoschka as well as from more modern movements and by significant artists for Linz, such as VALIE EXPORT.

NORDICO Stadtmuseum Linz

NORDICO stands for Linz’s identity in the context of the city’s history. It is a lively place where stories are told and innovative museum work is performed. In addition to the presentation of the collection, changing special exhibitions are dedicated to topics and people in Linz’s past and present.
