Accessibility statements ÖBB Scotty
Valid from: 04.11.2025
Austrian Federal Railways endeavours to make its digital offerings accessible in accordance with the Web Accessibility Act (WZG) as amended to implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (Official Journal L 327 of 2 December 2016, p. 1) and the Accessibility Act (BaFG), which implements the European Accessibility Directive RL (EU) 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services (EEA).
This accessibility statement applies to:
- ÖBB Scotty website (https://fahrplan.oebb.at/webapp/)
- ÖBB Scotty mobile applications (iOS and Android)
Status of compliance with requirements
Due to the points listed below, ÖBB Scotty is currently partially compliant with WCAG 2.1, Level AA and the European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1.
Non-accessible content
Incompatibility with accessibility regulations
In some cases, labels and the marking of names, roles, values, status messages, buttons, icons, links and interactive elements may not be optimally implemented, individual headings may be missing, keyboard operation and focus order may be restricted when using an external keyboard, contrast may be too low in some cases, and dynamic search results may not be communicated optimally in some cases.
This means that WCAG success criteria SC 1.1.1 (text equivalent), SC 1.3.1 (information, structure and relationships of the presentation), SC 2.1.1 (ensuring operability via the keyboard), 4.1.3 status messages, SC 1.4.3 (contrast) are not fully met.
Work is ongoing to resolve these issues.
Disproportionate burden
Full WCAG-compliant accessibility of the map functions and the display of graphic elements cannot be guaranteed. In these cases, the focus is on alternative forms of display (text lists, search input, travel information in structured table form).
The functions concerned are being continuously developed and improved.
Content outside the scope of application
- Third-party content and services (e.g. external map APIs) are not directly within the sphere of influence of ÖBB.
- No comprehensive accessibility commitment can be made for this content.
