Whether you are travelling to neighbouring countries or within Austria, Eurocity and Intercity trains complement the Railjet long-distance service.
Eurocity and Intercity trains offer two comfort classes: Economy Class and First Class.
Air-conditioned open-plan carriages and compartment carriages await you on board. We also offer special compartments for female passengers travelling alone or families with children.
An on-board restaurant takes care of your physical well-being on Eurocity trains. Intercity trains are equipped with a mobile on-board service or a snack area (IC double-decker trains).
Intercity double-decker trains in service on the western route
From autumn 2025, IC double-decker trains will be used on connections between Vienna and Salzburg with more frequent stops. As the IC double-decker trains have more seats than the existing Railjet trains, this will increase seating capacity on the IC line by around 20 per cent.
The six-car IC double-decker trains have 486 seats (66 in 1st class and 420 in 2nd class) and are equipped with eight bicycle spaces and two wheelchair spaces. They also feature barrier-free access, air conditioning, free WiFi, power sockets, generous luggage racks and catering areas with vending machines for snacks and (hot) drinks.
