Over the past few hours and during the night, an exceptionally large amount of fresh snow has fallen, particularly in the eastern half of Austria. The wet and heavy snow is currently causing disruptions to our infrastructure. Fallen trees or breaking branches may damage overhead lines and obstruct tracks. Due to local failures in the public power supply (for example in Styria), point heaters may also fail.
The effects of the weather conditions are currently leading to isolated line closures and delays in train services. Our teams have been working continuously since the night to secure affected areas, repair damage, and restore full railway operations as quickly as possible.
Passengers are requested to check their connections before travelling and to allow extra time.
