Motorail train for persons in wheelchairs
Generally, the passengers are required to personally load and unload and, if necessary, move the vehicle on the motorail carriage. Should you require assistance, please let us know when booking the motorail.
Car loading process for persons with impaired mobility at the Tauern motorail (ASTB)
Due to relevant transport and safety regulations, all users of the motorail are required to sit in the passenger carriage that is part of the train while traversing the Tauern Tunnel. All passenger carriages are generally low-floor (double-decker) carriages offering enough space for customers with impaired mobility. The entrances and exits are of course barrier-free.
Car drivers with impaired mobility
Due to the space available on the motorail carriage, leaving the vehicle is difficult or not possible for persons with wheelchairs. In order to facilitate using the motorail carriage for customers with impaired mobility we would like to ask these passengers to report to the local ÖBB personnel prior to purchasing their tickets or at least prior to the loading process.
Based on this ÖBB will provide customers with impaired mobility up to two car parking spaces per train on the exit ramp carriage. Their cars will be parked there at the beginning of the loading process. The barrier-free exit of their vehicle on the exit ramp car is thus made possible for customers with impaired mobility or travellers in wheelchairs.
