In order to avoid misinterpretation, we wish to draw your attention to the fact
that the newly-constructed sections Unterinntal-Kundl/Radfeld – Baumkirchen and
Wienerwaldtunnel - Hadersdorf-W junction. – Tullnerfeld – St. Pölten,
notwithstanding the decision to provide these sections with a reduced level of
signalling equipment, after entry into service may only be used by rail vehicles
with suitable ETCS Level 2 equipment. For more information, see our Homepage at:

Equipping with signalling is solely for the purposes of technical “safe operating mode”!

In the Unterinntal (Lower Inn Valley) area planning is currently underway
concerning the measuring runs, recording runs and test runs which are necessary
in 2012 after construction completion of all facilities.
Alongside the testing of trains’ technical equipment during test runs, we
believe you should also have the opportunity to train your staff and carry out
route-familiarisation runs. In 2012 a window of 1-2 months has been set aside
for such runs in our project planning. In order to organise and agree all RUs’
runs, as well as those for maintenance traffic and ÖBB’s own test teams, and
also construction company activities, we require you to submit details of the
content and scope of your necessary test runs before 20.06.2010. On request, we
will promptly provide details of the test content necessary from the point of
view of the infrastructure.
Infrastuktur AG will make no usage charge for test runs made in connection with
ETCS.
Please note that ETCS test runs may only be carried out by traction units which
comply with the requirements laid out in the Traction Unit Requirements
Catalogue. See Annex, as well as:
