ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG was founded in October 2009 with retrospective effect on 1 January 2009 and employs approximately 17,300 people. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of ÖBB-Holding AG, which in turn is wholly owned by the Republic of Austria.

We plan and construct...

...railway infrastructure projects with a total investment volume of more than € 2bn a year until 2016. These investments are mainly focused on:

  • the four-track development of the Western line (Vienna – St. Pölten, freight rail bypass St. Pölten, Ybbs – Amstetten)
  • the four-track development in the lower Inn valley (Kundl/Radfeld - Baumkirchen)
  • the development of the Baltic-Adriatic Axis (Pottendorfer Line, Semmering Base Tunnel new, Koralm Railway Line)
  • the Lainzer Tunnel as connecting line between the Western, Southern and Donaulände railway
  • the continuation of the railway station initiative with the current projects Vienna central station, BahnhofCity Vienna West, Salzburg central station, Graz central station
  • projects for suburban services in conurbations
  • noise protection measures
  • construction of park & ride facilities
  • enhancement of tunnel safety on existing lines
  • extensive reinvestments

  • 14,900 switches, of which 10,159 are heated

  • 680 signal boxes, of which more than 200 electronic
  • 6,733 bridges
  • 229 tunnels
  • 3,991 railway crossings
  • 1,967 km of 110-kV-traction supply lines
  • 5,396 buildings

  • We own and operate the entire ÖBB railway infrastructure.
