Stand back and marvel at world-famous cultural treasures from all over the globe.
The Museum of Ethnology in Vienna is one of the most important ethnographic museums in the world and is located in the newest part of the Vienna Hofburg on the Ringstrasse.

Highlights from the museum can be traced back to over 500 years of collecting by the Habsburgs themselves -  these include the art treasures of Emperor Rudolf II, the unique Old Mexican feather jewellery "Penacho", the world-famous collection of James Cook as well as objects from the discovery and research expeditions of the 19th century.

Aztecs
15.10.2020 - 13.04.2021

You can go and view one of the absolute highlights of the exhibition from 15th October in the Museum of Ethnology, Vienna.
The special Aztecs exhibition will take place on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the landing of the Spanish conqueror Hernán Cortés on the coast of Mexico.

The Aztecs ruled a large part of Mesoamerica at the time of the Spanish conquest in the early 16th century. As a nomadic people, the Aztecs finally settled on several small islands in Lake Texcoco, where they founded the city of Tenochtitlán, today’s Mexico City, in 1325.
