Das Haus der Geschichte von innen

House of Austrian History

The Haus der Geschichte Österreich (Museum of Austrian History) is the first contemporary history museum in Austria.

In our exhibitions we offer insights into the most important political, social, cultural and economic developments from the last century and right up to the present day. Unusual objects, including some never-before-seen documents, and interactive media stations make Austria’s recent history more tangible for visitors young and old, presented in historic rooms with contemporary architecture and design.

The museum also acts as a forum for discussion: short tours, general tours and ever-changing themed tours take place regularly. Special offers for families invite visitors to discover more about history together. Events and discussions link history with current issues that will also be relevant in the future.

We create space for questions that matter!
