BODY WORLDS (KÖRPERWELTEN) from 9 June in Innsbruck
Now the world's most successful anatomy show is coming to the Tyrolean capital for the first time. From 9 June 2023, plastinator Dr. Gunther von Hagens and curator Dr. Angelina Whalley will present their latest exhibition "BODY WORLDS - On the Pulse of Time" at BALE in Innsbruck.
In "BODY WORLDS - On the Pulse of Time", exhibition organiser Dr. Angelina Whalley shows the human body in its many facets and illustrates its vulnerability but also its potential in the face of the challenges of the 21st century. "The exhibition is intended to invite the visitor to critically examine the constant overstimulation of modern life and its long-term effects on body and mind," says the curator, describing the idea behind the exhibition. "I want to encourage visitors to become aware of their responsibility for their own health." In addition to explanations on nutrition, exercise and strengthening the immune system, she shows in the exhibition how a healthy and long life can be achieved in the 21st century.
BODY WORLDS is an exhibition that changes the way we look at ourselves and our way of life. More than 53 million people worldwide have already embarked on this journey of self-discovery through the human body.
The fascinating real human exhibits, including many full-body plastinates, offer a deep insight into the complex structure of our inner selves. They make it easy to understand how the body’s systems and organs work and interact, and teach us about common diseases.
The plastinates shown in the exhibition come from the body donation programme of the Institute for Plastination in Heidelberg, which now has more than 20,000 registered donors on its books.
