On October 5th 2019, the 20th edition of ORF Long Night of Museums is taking place in Austria and museums all over Carinthia are opening their doors from 18:00 to 01:00. In addition, ÖBB in in combination with Kärntner Schreiberlinge and Kunstschiene Wörthersee merge the topics art and culture with railway.
Kärntner Schreiberlinge (Carinthian Scribblers)
Travellers and travel destinations are eclectic and so are the literary works, which have the common theme of "movement", just like the "Kunstschiene Wörthersee". With their art, the Kärntner Schreiberlinge want to represent the work of the local literary scene and bring movement into the faces and brains of their audience. Different poems and short stories in High German as well as in Austrian dialect will be read in selected trains of the S-Bahn line S1 between Villach and Klagenfurt, as well as on train stations in Velden/Wörthersee and Pörtschach.

If you want to listen to one of the readings, you do not need a separate train ticket because the ticket for the 20th edition of ORF Long Night of Museums is also a valid train ticket on the S-Bahn trains of line S1 (Frisach - Spittal/Millstättersee) on October 5th 2019, between 17:00 and 01:00.

Kunstschiene Wörthersee (Arts and Rail)
"Kunstschiene Wörthersee" is the result of the connection between art and rail and take place on stations in Villach - Velden/Wörthersee - Pörtschach - Klagenfurt. Subsequently, you will find information about events from "Kunstschiene Wörthersee":
At the main railway station in Klagenfurt is an exhibition, which focus lies on frescos from Giselbert Hocke. His frescos count as some of the most important modern art creations in the public sector in Austria.
At Kunstbahnhof Pörtschach the club "ZUGänglicheKunst" hosts a special exhibition called "WEITSICHTIG" by Brandy Brandstätter. The Carinthian artist demonstrated the importance of risking a second glance on his work. The exhibition will be takes place up and including November 15th 2019 and is open from Thursday to Sunday 10:00 - 18:00 o’clock.
At the Kunstbahnhof Velden/Wörthersee Barbara Ambrusch-Rapp invites you to her multimedia-based pop-up-exhibition "Ein Blümchen für die Zaungesellschaft" (A flower for the society of the fence). This exhibition is part of the series "curated by_station" and allows the viewer to float between relicts of her conflicts and today's being. The artwork focuses on societies blind spots and invites to discussions and reflections. The artist will be on the spot from 18:00 until 01:00 o’clock.
