Families hold very good cards in the international rail transport between Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Parents or grandparents can take their children or grandchildren under 15 years with them free of charge, when travelling across the border.
You can make use of the family offer with all international tickets (excluding group travels and pass offers such as e.g. Inter Rail, etc.), i.e. for example also with the SparSchiene ticket, as many times as you like, in 1st or 2nd class, irrespective of the distance. If you are travelling with a SparSchiene ticket, you benefit from the price reductions of the Family Children Regulation also for travels to Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg as well as to the Netherlands.
