Noise-differentiated track access charge element (“noise bonus”)

From the 2018 network timetable period, and in coordination with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG is introducing a noise bonus to support the retrofitting with low-noise braking technology of freight wagons currently equipped with cast iron brake blocks.

The noise bonus is configured according to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/429 of 13 March 2015 setting out the modalities to be followed for the application of charges for the cost of noise effects.

For the 2018 network timetable period, retrofitted wagons attract a noise bonus of € 0.01 per axle kilometre run on the ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG rail network. You can find further information under "Downloads".

ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG incorporates the noise-differentiated track access charge component for the network timetable period of 2019 and beyond until 31 December 2021 in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2015/429.
