The first business year of the ÖBB (Austrian Railways) group in its new structure is complete. The ÖBB group passed its test, with the results exceeding expectations.
With an additional 4.3 million passengers, the ÖBB achieved a new peak in the area of passenger transport, and despite an extremely tough market situation, with 1,943 million EUROS, set a new turnover record in goods transport.
In 2005, 1,423 million EUROS were invested in upgrading the infrastructure, and a total of around 300 planning and building projects were simultaneously being completed – more than ever before.
The productivity of the ÖBB group increased by 21.5 per cent, and the operating result climbed from - 3 million Euros in 2004 to +13 million Euros in 2005.
