Journey continued by taxi

You will receive a taxi confirmation from the train attendants on the delayed train entitling you to use a taxi. Please send this confirmation, the original of the taxi bill (up to a maximum amount of 50,- Euro) as well as the original of your ticket together with the fully completed form "Request for Compensation and Refund for Train Delays" to the following address:

and we will transfer the amount to your account. If you did not receive a confirmation, you will still get a refund for your costs following a check of your entitlement by our Service Centre. Please note that such cases may take longer to process.

Overnight stay in hotel

If it is not possible to continue your journey with another type of transport service, we will refund you the costs for an appropriate accommodation (middle class hotel) up to a maximum amount of 80,- Euro.

Please observe the following procedure:

You will receive a hotel confirmation from the train attendants on the delayed train entitling you to an overnight stay in a hotel. If it is not possible to issue the hotel confirmation on the train, you can also get this from the ticket office or in the ÖBB Lounge. If this option is also not possible, please contact our ÖBB Customer Service 05-1717. Our staff will inform you about the nearest contract hotel and deposit a hotel confirmation at the ticket vending machine, which you can get by entering the retrieval code.

Our contract hotels are listed on the confirmation. Please show this confirmation when checking into the hotel. You do not have to pay anything for your overnight stay; the hotel bill will be settled directly with us. If there is no contract hotel or if no rooms are available in the contract hotel(s), you may stay in another middle class hotel. In this case, please send your hotel confirmation, the original of the hotel bill as well as the original of your ticket together with the fully completed form "Request for Compensation and Refund for Train Delays" to the following address:

and we will transfer the amount to your account. Please note that the maximum amount to be refunded is 80,- Euro. Please also note that priority must be given to using the services organised by ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG, i.e. to first making use of the alternative travel options with other public transport services, and that the lowest priced alternative must be selected from above mentioned options.

The acceptance of costs exceeding the amounts specified above cannot be guaranteed. Such cases are separately reviewed.
