The summer isn´t only bringing along joyful holidays, but also more travelers as usual and unfortunately construction sites. In Germany and Austria construction work is being done on the modern west route - delays on your train journey might occur!

Please consider these information when planning your trip and check the current travel situation regularly.

Construction work on western route

Valid for the period 23 July 2017 to 13 August 2017 on the Western route

Departure and arrival times on the Western route will change between Sunday, 23 July 2017 and Sunday, 13 August 2017. Because of this, the affected trains’ travel times will increase. This is due to a Deutsche Bahn construction site at Deutsches Eck ("German corner") between Salzburg and Kufstein.

ÖBB has created a special construction site timetable for this period:

  • From Kufstein onwards, westbound Railjets departing from Vienna will arrive at all further stations some 15 to 20 minutes later than usual.
  • From Salzburg onwards, Railjets departing in Western Austria and Munich and bound for Vienna/Airport and Budapest will depart from all further stations some 15 to 20 minutes later than usual.

The following Railjet trains are affected by the changed timetable

Westbound: 160, 162, 166, 168, 362, 560, 562, 564, 566, 568, 660, 662, 668, 760, 860, 862, 864, 866, 868, 960

Eastbound: 49, 61, 63, 67, 69, 161, 165, 167, 169, 261, 265, 361, 563, 565, 567, 661, 663, 763, 765, 861, 863, 867, 869, 949, 965

Additionally, the departure time of the night trains EN 347 (Vienna-Bucharest) and EN 406 (Vienna-Berlin/Krakow/Warsaw/Košice) will be moved backwards to allow people travelling on Railjet trains to connect to these night trains.

In Tyrol, local transport will also be affected

  • Between Schönwies and Landeck, 12 REX trains will be replaced by a bus service. In the Ötztal - Schönwies section, trains bound for Landeck will depart 10 to 15 minutes later.
  • 4 REX trains running from Innsbruck to Landeck will depart approx. 5 to 15 minutes later from Ötztal.

Due to these changes to the timetable, we cannot guarantee that you will reach your connecting trains. Therefore, you allow extra time when planning your journey and inform yourself about the current situation prior to embarking.
