Franz Joseph 1830-1916 - Commemorating the centenary of the Emperor's death
21 November 2016 marks the centenary of the death of Emperor Franz Joseph who ruled over the Habsburg Monarchy for 68 years. This large-scale exhibition at four locations in Vienna and Lower Austria takes a critical approach to exploring the personality of Franz Joseph. Under the focal themes "Man & Monarch" (Schönbrunn Palace), "Majesty & Modesty" (Imperial Carriage Museum Vienna), "Festivities & Everyday Life" (Hofmobiliendepot • Imperial Furniture Collection Vienna) and "Hunting & Recreation" (Schloss Niederweiden), the exhibition explores the different facets of the story of the famous long-ruling monarch.
