Zone tickets

With ÖBB, every zone holds a great savings potential.

If you frequently have to travel on the same route for business or private reasons, ÖBB as well as the respective Transport Associations offer you low priced zone tickets.

Transport Association-Zone Tickets:

A network of benefits: throughout Austria, there are Transport Associations that cover one Federal State each (with the exception of the Eastern region that has 2 Transport Associations for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland). The Transport Associations offer uniform tariffs for all transport undertakings that are members of the Association.

This makes it possible for you to use several means of transport with a single ticket and on the basis of a uniform fare scheme.

Many major cities have city services that can be used with the Transport Association zone tickets that include city services.

You can get Transport Association tickets from all transport undertakings, at all of ÖBB's points of sale, on the ÖBB Postbus as well as at ÖBB's ticket vending machines.

Transport Association offers:

  • day ticket
  • weekly ticket
  • monthly ticket
  • yearly ticket
  • semester tickets (with some Transport Associations)

For detailed regulations, please refer to the information provided by the respective Transport Associations.

ÖBB-Zone Tickets

You can get ÖBB zone tickets only for travels that involve more than one Transport Association. The Transport Association Tariff applies to all travels within one Transport Association. This means that only tickets of the respective Transport Association may be offered and sold.

With these tickets, you can travel as many times as you like within their validity period in 2nd class or - paying a surcharge - in 1st class on the selected route.

ÖBB offers:

  • weekly zone ticket is valid for seven days and transferable, i.e. it can also be used by other people
  • monthly zone ticket is valid for one month starting from the date you selected and also transferable

Travelling within Transport Associations

Together we will take you far.

In all Austrian federal states, there are several undertakings working in the public transport sector. Most of them have joined forces in Transport Associations and offer uniform tariffs. This gives you the possibility to use several means of transport with a single ticket.

As a rule, the offer includes single journeys at full and half price (children from six to 14 years, senior citizens, people with limited mobility) and commutation tickets (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly tickets) as well student reductions.

Many major cities have city services that can be used with their own tickets or in combination with a Transport Association ticket.

You can get detailed information regarding Transport Associations (zone categories, fares etc.) at the stations or directly from the respective Transport Associations.
