Austrian AIRail - Travel directly from Linz when flying from Vienna Airport
From 14 December 2014 onwards, passengers travelling to or from Linz will enjoy direct, fast and comfortable rail connections to Vienna Airport. Passengers will be able to board the ICE in Linz every two hours and travel directly to Vienna Airport in just 1 hour 47 minutes. Using the points of sale of Austrian Airlines, it will be possible to book the rail journey from Linz to Vienna together with a connecting flight as an AIRail connection, enabling passengers travelling to or from Linz to access all the destinations in the Austrian Airlines global route network with one ticket valid for both the rail and air legs of their journey.
AIRail offers much more than just quick and easy booking, however. AIRail customers will also be offered the option of checking in for their flight at Linz Hauptbahnhof using a self-service terminal at the station’s Travel Centre. Business Class and AUA Miles & More Status customers will be able to use the ÖBB Lounge at Linz Hauptbahnhof, with assistance available on request at Passenger Check-in. The boarding pass will then function as a ticket for the entire journey booked, including the sections by rail and by air.
AIRail passengers will be allocated their own reserved seats on the train, and supported by ÖBB staff during the rail leg of the journey. Passengers will be responsible for taking care of their luggage until they reach Vienna Airport, with service staff present on the platforms at both ends of the journey to help them unload and load their luggage when boarding and disembarking from the train. All AIRail passengers will be given a voucher for the ICE on-board restaurant, should they wish to enjoy some light refreshments during their journey to or from the airport.
