Multifunctional rail car

In the multifunctional rail car (Multifunktionswagen, MFW), a new concept for customers in a wheelchair has been implemented. With this, for the first time ever, it is possible for passengers requiring a wheelchair and a person accompanying them to travel comfortably in a couchette compartment in our ÖBB night trains. Further information on this travel option is available from our mobility service centre.

Currently, these rail cars are deployed in the following trains:

• EN 490-491 Vienna West - Hamburg Altona
• EN 466-467 Vienna West - Zürich Central Train Station
• EN 246-247 Vienna West - Bregenz
